Joseph Ravitch is a founder and partner in Raine, a boutique merchant bank focused on advisory and investing in the global media and entertainment industry. Prior to Raine, Joe was a senior Partner at Goldman Sachs where he spent 16 years based in London, Hong Kong and New York working on transactions in the media and telecommunications industry including a number of the firm’s principal investments like the YES Network, Demand Media, China Netcom and Focus Media. While at Goldman, Joe was responsible for creating and building several important businesses including the Asian TMT business, the sports practice and the entertainment finance group as well as working closely with significant media companies around the world.
Prior to Goldman Sachs, Joe worked as an attorney for Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen and Hamilton in New York, London and Moscow where he helped found the firm’s Russian practice. Joe also clerked for Judge Pierre N. Leval in the Southern District of New York. He graduated from Amherst College, magna cum laude, and has a J.D. from the Yale Law School. He lives in New York with his wife Lisa and their two sons.
