Terry Foecke is the Chief Technical Officer and a Director of SDCL-Asia, responsible for the Energy Efficiency team, which sources energy efficiency opportunities, develops them into commercially viable projects and arranges appropriate project financing. His activities include developing and supporting clients’ internal staff teams in order to build capacity and fully integrate sustainable manufacturing with ongoing activities such as supplier development, product design and process auditing. In addition, Foecke develops and maintains relationships with technical partners of all kinds, tracking and evaluating process improvements with potential to optimize materials use.
Immediately prior to accepting this position with SDCL-Asia, Foecke supported the Environmental Defense Fund and Walmart in a multi-year project based in Shenzhen, P.R.C., to “green” Walmart’s China supply chain. In that role he developed and managed an internal team that engaged with over 650 factories in mainland China, with the result that over 150 reduced the energy intensity of their manufacturing processes by at least 20%.
His global consulting experience includes extensive corporate-wide projects in (US)Fortune 500 companies in the medical device, chemical and diversified industrial manufacturing businesses, including agriculture, mining, and food processing. He has led projects in many countries in Latin America and Asia, with support from the World Bank, UNIDO, The Asia Foundation and corporations. Terry’s core experience and expertise is working directly with factories and other producers to discover and implement ideas that reduce negative environmental impacts and make economic sense.
He believes that the key to environmental progress is to make it easy to do what is right.
